Almost everyone has a flawed view of the ocean. We look at it from a terrestrial perspective, which means we’re missing opportunities to solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges.
The slow deterioration of coral reefs worldwide has finally made it’s way to major national news. Why? The reef situation in the world is dire. Coral reefs are vital.
The abundance of reef-building corals in the Caribbean has decreased by more than 80%. This silent killer affects all of us. Few people understand this.
Important to revive. Important to survive. Important to the thrive.
Every organization has a reason for it’s existence. We have one very big reason.
The Ocean.
Mission: Ocean Reef offers a hands-on expedition at, and in the ocean. Guests will enjoy a sailing experience to the Puerto Rican Trench for an Ocean “Re-Introduction” in partnership with The Ocean Agency and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. The trench is the deepest point in the Atlantic Ocean at 27,560 feet. Understanding the critical needs to restore the coral reef environment, the expedition will continue with various coral restoration activities and education on land. Guests will learn the coral restoration approach and have an opportunity to dive and snorkel to observe the underwater nurseries.
The expedition is designed to be life-changing, bringing the ocean to the forefront for all. Our guests will never look at the ocean in the same way again after this experience.
