Charlotte Kahn
Scientific Coordinator

Charlotte holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Flagler College. Her interest in marine science sparked at 8 years old when doing oceanography camp in Maine. Her past years have brought her through Sydney, Australia and both Oahu and Kauai, Hawai’i. While in Kauai, she worked with native Hawaiian birds doing rescue and rehabilitation. Her love for studying coral was exacerbated in Bermuda when she got the opportunity to conduct Atlantic and Gulf Rapid Reef Assessment surveys looking for stony coral diseases. In St. Augustine, she has conducted water quality assessments in relation to overall benthic meiofaunal health. She currently is studying the phagocytic process of upside-down jellyfish (Cassiopeia sp.) at Whitney Labs, which is a species that, similar to coral, has a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic algae. In the future, she hopes to continue this research and expand it in relation to coral bleaching.
